The goal of this project is to fabricate single crystals by solid state processing (dynamic recrystallization) for subsequent investigation of the constitutive responses of materials with specific mechanical or physical properties. This research effort combines numerical (Monte Carlos Potts) and experimental approaches to understand dynamic recrystallization events in pure Fe. This is a collaboration with Prof. Groza at UC Davis. This work is being performed under the auspices of the Materials Design Institute, a Los Alamos National Laboratory–UC Davis Educational Collaboration.
