Dynamic model of the lung for particle deposition testing
Undergraduate Student
2017-Present
I have been part of the lab since Spring 2017, and I work on design projects in the topic of Numerical Simulation of fluid-structure-particle interaction in the respiratory system. During my time in the lab I presented my projects at three conferences (UC LEADS Summer Symposium, SACNAS and Undergraduate Research Conference). I have also been awarded the Provost Undergraduate Fellowship for the design of a lung simulator for particle deposition testing.
Previously, I participated in undergraduate research for the MASTER lab (Manufacturing and Sustainability Technologies Research Lab). I received an award from Harvard College for Excellence in Research at the National Collegiate Research Conference. I also presented this research at six conferences. As a UC LEADS scholar I was able to conduct summer research at UC Riverside in the Mass and Heat Transfer Lab, and present my research at three conferences for this work. During my time at UC Davis, I received a Service Award from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Leadership Award from Phillips 66 through the department too. I also worked as an orientation leader, a tour guide, a tutor and a peer advisor. All in all, one of the most rewarding experience was my volunteer work with the AB540 and Undocumented Student Center and work as a BikEmpower Coordinator. I hope to take the lessons I learned throughout my time at Davis and apply it after my graduation in June 2018.
